Last weeks Virtual GP was a lot of fun, thanks to everyone who contributed and took part. The sight of Johnny Herbert leading the first few laps suggested a more interesting variant of the race. Obviously as a virtual race there is no age limit, and previous F1 champions would be available to play.

These are the fully retired F1 champions who could potentially run in a ‘Masters’ race, if only someone could talk them into it and get them the right virtual racing setup.
- Nico Rosberg
- Mika Hakkninen
- Damon Hill
- Jacques Villeneuve
- Alain Prost
- Nigel Mansell
- Keke Rosberg (two Rosbergs on same grid!)
- Nelson Piquet
- Mario Andretti
- Alan Jones
- Jody Scheckter
- Emerson Fittipaldi
- Jackie Stewart
Nico is the standout here because he is more obviously from the modern era, but the spectacle of Nico racing against his father Keke, F1 Champion of 1982, would be great tv.
Otherwise – some spicy potential rematches here. Mansell vs Prost vs Piquet could only really be repeated safely in the new world of virtual racing, internet and self isolation. Some of these people still race real cars. Emerson is 73. He needs to be learn virtual racing as a priority!
Current E racing specialists could be enlisted to coach the older entrants, and that exposure and credibility could only benefit that sport.
Obviously we’d miss legends such as Micheal Schumacher, Niki Lauda, James Hunt and Ayrton, but seeing one era against another is a sports fan’s dream, and is a desperately needed morale booster for sport generally. FIA, we need spectacle to keep us in our seats and these heroes will be itching to help – make this happen!
