Welcome to Durango95, a motorsports blog from the writer of World In A Bottle. I aim to highlight my favourite parts of; F1, MotoGP, World Superbikes, British Superbikes, MotoE, Formula E and W Series (plus maybe GT, Endurance racing and Speedway if we can find the time). My old editor at MotorycleOnline (now motorcycle.com) used to complain that my content was too ‘off-the-wall’, I am the editor now, so if this stuff is on the ceiling complain to someone else.
Several things prompt this new blog;
- My road trip in 2010 from the shores of Africa to the Arctic Circle prompted the original World In A Bottle blog, which has over the years morphed into what is really a personal film/tv review site.
- I have rediscovered my love of motorcycles, and two wheeled racing is now a thing for me again after a 15 year hiatus (so I missed the entire Rossi era)
- FORMULA ONE : DRIVE TO SURVIVE relit my dormant obsession with F1, which was killed off in the early 00s by refueling stops replacing overtaking.
Background? I covered the golden years of World Superbikes for MotorycleOnline and also the engineering freakshow that was B.E.A.R.S (British European American Racing Series). I attended a job interview at McClaren and spent two decade long weeks at Isle of Man TT 1993. I am from a non technical arts background but have slowly come to understand the technical side of motorsport, and as a technical writer I enjoy passing on what I’ve learnt to others who want to understand.
Don’t feel obliged to hang around, but you are welcome when you are here. Enjoy!
